Arsenal vs Burnley - Two Teams in Dire Need of Turning the Tide

Published by Christoffer Segerhjelm, 2 December 2020

This is an early outlook on the Premier League game between Arsenal and Burnley, scheduled to take place on Sunday 13 December at the Emirates Stadium.
It's a game between two teams hampered by lack of quality in the final third but also two teams that seem to prioritize a solid defence above everything else. I believe there's some slight value to be found in the total goals market.

Arsenal

The Gunners are off to a disappointing start to the season, claiming 14th spot with 13 points from 10 games so far. Mikel Arteta's team have improved defensively but have lost the mojo going forward.

There's been on average 2.20 goals scored in Arsenal's league games this season.

Only Newcastle United, Burnley and Sheffield United have created fewer shots than Arsenal so far this season, Arsenal creating on average 9.50 shots per game.
Only four teams have created fewer shots on target than Arsenal so far this season, Arsenal creating on average 3.20 shots on target per game.

Only six teams have conceded fewer shots on target than Arsenal so far this season, the Islington outfit conceding on average 3.90 shots on target per game.

Burnley

The Clarets have experienced a rather dreadful start to the season, residing in 19th place with 5 points from 9 games so far. Sean Dyche's men have in particular lost the small attacking spark that have been present in the last couple of seasons.

There's been on average 2.33 goals scored in Burnley's league games this season.

Only Newcastle United have created fewer shots than Burnley so far this season, Burnley creating on average 9.22 shots per game.
No other team have created fewer shots on target than Burnley so far this season, Burnley creating on average 2.67 shots on target per game.

Only Sheffield United have a worse shoot percentage than Burnley so far this season, the Lancashire scoring a mere 16% of the created shots on target.
