Crotone vs. Napoli - Form Suggests a Low-Scoring Away Win

Crotone vs. Napoli - Form Suggests a Low-Scoring Away Win

Published by Martin Green, 2 December 2020

Napoli should be full of confidence as they prepare to face struggling Crotone at Stadio Ezio Scida on Sunday evening.

Genaro Gattuso’s men are up to fifth in the Serie A table after thumping Roma 4-0 last weekend.

Lorenzo Insigne, Fabian Ruiz Pena, Dries Mertens and Matteo Politano were all on target in that heavy victory against a Roma side that were on an 11-game unbeaten streak.

It saw Napoli leapfrog Roma in the table, and they are now just a point behind second-placed Inter Milan, so they will be keen to maintain their fine form.

A Fired Up Team

Napoli have not drawn a single game this season. They have six wins and three defeats from nine games, pointing to an all-or-nothing approach.

They were highly motivated to win that game against Roma, as they wanted to honour the memory of former player Diego Maradona, and they should still be fired up on Sunday.

Napoli have already scored 20 goals in nine games this season. However, 15 of them have come at home, and they have just five goals from four away matches.

That has not stopped them winning three of those four away games. They simply play a more conservative brand of football on the road, and try to grind out low-scoring victories.

Cannon Fodder

Crotone have been hopeless since securing promotion to Serie A. They are bottom of the table, with zero wins, two draws and seven defeats from nine games.

They are already six points adrift of safety, and it already looks impossible for them to survive in the top flight.

Crotone’s home games have seen an average of 2.25 goals, which is the third lowest in the league this season. Napoli’s away games have also seen an average of 2.25 goals, which is the joint lowest in the league.

It points to a low-scoring clash on Sunday, but Napoli really should end up victorious.

Tip: Napoli to win and under 4.5 goals

Stake: One unit
