Las Vegas Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs: Big enough to feed two

Las Vegas Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs: Big enough to feed two

Revenge time

One of the most interesting games of the week. Although Kansas City Chiefs are lined as a heavy favorite on the road at their divisional foes, they sure will take Raiders very seriously tonight. Reason for that is the shocking upset in week 5, when Raiders traveled to Arrowhead as a double digit underdog and won comfortably. The final score might not show it, but they had the firm grasp on that game throughout the second half. It remains the only loss of the season for the Chiefs and I'm sure they are looking for revenge here.

And not only that. if they lose again, the AFC West title might be in jeopardy. The Broncos and Chargers are out of the race with 3-6 and 2-7 records. But if Raiders get another upset, they would close the gap to only one win (with a tie-breker in their hands) and make things very interesting in this division. On the other hand, if Chiefs do win here, they are probably locking up that AFC west title already. Another thing going for the Chiefs is that they're coming off a bye, well rested and prepared for this divisional bout

Succesfull adjustment

I remember that first game pretty well. Raiders defensive coordinator Paul Gunther partially copied some of the things the Patriots did the week before that helped them slow down Mahomes and this explosive offense. Also, he made some brilliant adjustments at the halftime, throwing Mahomes off of his game completely. One of those things was dropping big DE Arden Key in a spy role. But as I wrote back then, Andy Reid and his coaching staff are simply too good and will adjust to those things. And they did. After the loss to Raiders, they won 4 games in a row. Only one of them was a one-score game.

The Raiders had another Covid-19 scare situation this week. If you remember a couple weeks back, the entire OL was in isolation and this time, it was a bunch of defensive players. Clelin Ferrel tested positive and will sit out this game, while most of the others will play. Kolton Miller is also back to solidify the Carr's blind-side, although the backups performed admirably in absence of Miller, Brown and Incognito.

Raiders vs Chiefs betting tips

Looking at the traditional markets, getting a full touchdown with the Raiders at home, looks pretty tempting. They showed that they are confident enough in their abilities to take on the best teams in the league and beat them. They have a nice balance on offense, which can sustain long drives and keep Mahomes on the sidelines. Defense is playing good enough to keep the offense in the punching distance. And they won three in a row and are coming in this one with a head full of steam.

But, I'm probably gonna think about it a bit more. I'm sure that they will need a new defensive gameplan to beat the Chiefs this time around, because they are ready for the one they used last time. And it's tough to come up with a solution to slow down this offense. Many have tired, but not many have succeeded. I did see a player prop that I do like in this game. Although the Raiders love Josh Jacobs, this running game is so big that it can feed more than one mouth. We saw that in recent weeks when Devontae Booker carved himself a nice role in this offense, thanks to his performances, when he got a chance earlier in the season. Being a dual threat, they like to use him near the goal line, because he is strong enough to run it inside, or slip out and catch it out of backfield. Getting 4.00 for a player that scored three times in the last two games is too good to pass up.
