La Liga leaders Real Sociedad will aim to maintain their fine form when they head to Andalusia to take on Cadiz this weekend.

Imanol Alguacil’s men have rattled off five consecutive league victories, which has seen them storm to the top of the table.

They have fired in 16 goals in the process, so they should cause plenty of problems for newly promoted Cadiz on Sunday.

David Silva Pulls the Strings

Real Sociedad pulled off one of the biggest coups of the summer when they signed David Silva on a free transfer from Man City.

The legendary playmaker tested positive for Covid-19, along with several teammates, and that caused the Basque club to make a sluggish start to the season.

They won just one of their opening four matches – a 3-0 triumph over Elche – but they did hold champions Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw, and they have now hit their stride, embarking on a five-game winning streak.

Silva has slotted seamlessly into a talented midfield that also boasts Mikel Oyazarbal and Mikel Merino. Willian José and Portu have been dangerous in attack, with Alexander Isak and Adnan Januzaj providing depth.

A Gulf in Quality

Real Sociedad may not have the strongest defence in the division, but they look capable of challenging for a top four spot this season.

Cadiz will be scrapping at the opposite end of the table. They made some shrewd acquisitions after securing promotion to the top flight, but they are currently suffering from several injuries, and they were thumped 4-0 by Atletico Madrid before the international break.

Cadiz have four wins, two draws and three defeats from nine games so far, and that has left them sixth in the table.

However, it is difficult to see them remaining in the top half for long, and a gulf in quality between the teams could be evident on Sunday.

Cadiz are pretty stubborn in defence, but Silva and co have the guile to create chances, and the hosts lack potency in front of goal, so an away win looks appealing.
