Turkish Grand Prix 2020 - Before Free Practice

Published by Motorsport.com, 12 November 2020

This weekend, F1 fans will have a great reason to watch the race: the Turkish GP is back after nine years. As many GPs were canceled during the Covid pandemic, new ones were selected to fill their place, and the Intercity Istanbul Park track is one of them. It will be the 14th race on the 2020 calendar, and it may crown Lewis Hamilton seventh championship. Here are Motorsport tips to help you select a few bets for this weekend:

One of the most obvious bets has been Valtteri Bottas as the fastest driver in Free Practice 1. Before the Imola race, the Finn from Mercedes was the leader in the FP1 for seven consecutive races. The Emilia Romagna GP did not have 3 free practices as usual, but just one on Saturday. His team mate Lewis Hamilton led that one, but the 3 session format is back on Turkey. With than in mind, we think it's still a good choice to bet on the #77 car. Fastest in Free Practice 1: Valtteri Bottas

Besides the Mercedes' cars, Verstappen has his own as an "adversary". The Dutch driver climbed up the podium in all the races he was able to complete this year, but in the 13 races so far, he wasn't able to reach the end in 4 of them; reaching the Top-3 in 9 od the races. We believe he will come to Istambul looking to complete the race, after Imola retirement. Finish in the podium: Max Verstappen

There's one more sequence of good results constant at every GP. The Mexican Sergio Perez from Racing Point has been in the points finish in every race he participated in 2020, except the 2 races he could not join after falling sick with Covid. In Portugal he showed great recovery after spinning at the start, finishing in the 7th place. In Imola, he was the 6th. Top 6: Sergio Perez

Another driver in great form is Daniel Ricciardo. He put Renault in the podium for the first time in this new era of the team at the Eifel GP and repeated it at Emilia Romagna. More than that, of the last six races, he completed all in the top 6 position. To bet in a new podium is risky, but we can bewlieve he will be in the Top 6 again. Top 6: Daniel Ricciardo

Besides the big crisis in Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has been showing that the Italian team is improving the SF1000, the red car for 2020. He was able to finish the last 5 races scoring some points, in the Top 10. At Emilia Romagna, the driver shined to get a Top 5 finish. We hope he will continue to improve, as the car gets better. Top 10: Charles Leclerc

Pierre Gasly was the big surprise of 2020 when he won the Italy GP. He had to retire in the next race in Mugello, but was able to score points in the 3 races prior to that. He had car problems in Imola and saw his irregular team mate, the Russian Daniil Kvyat finish in 4th place, proving the Italian team is in great shape. The French driver will certainly hit the tracks strong in Turley. Top 10: Pierre Gasly
