Ligue 1 champions PSG will aim for a seventh consecutive league win when they travel to Brittany to face Nantes this weekend.

Thomas Tuchel’s side suffered from fatigue in the early weeks of the season and lost their opening two matches. However, they soon bounced back, and they have now stormed to their usual position at the top of the table.

They eased to a 2-0 Champions League win over Istanbul Sasaksehir on Wednesday night, and they should maintain their momentum against Nantes.

Mbappe and Kean Lead the Charge

Neymar limped off injured in that game against the Turkish champions, but PSG have a large enough squad to handle his absence. Kylian Mbappe is the most devastating striker in the division, Moise Kean has looked sharp since signing on loan from Everton and there is plenty of creativity in the midfield.

Nantes have made a relatively underwhelming start to the new campaign. They did beat Brest last time out, but they have just two wins, two draws and three defeats from seven games thus far.

They were 13th in the table when the 2019/20 season was abandoned, and finished 12th in 2018/19. Another season of midtable obscurity beckons, and they should be no match for PSG.

A Strong Head-to-Head Record

PSG beat Nantes home and away last season. It finished 2-0 to Tuchel’s side at the Parc des Princes, and they picked up a 2-1 win in Brittany.

They have won 13 of their last 14 matches against Nantes. Only three of those wins saw over 4.5 goals, as Nantes keep things relatively tight at the back. They have only conceded 10 goals in seven matches so far this season, but a lack of quality in front of goal has been their undoing.

It all points to a reasonably low-scoring victory for a PSG side that generally destroy their domestic rivals on a weekly basis.
