Disaster in the NFC East

In 2010, Seattle Seahawks won the NFC West with a 7-9 record. But NFC East division champion could be even worst this year. All the teams in NFC East are off to a shocking start into the season. Dallas Cowboys are currently in the lead with 2-4. They played alarmingly poor on Monday vs Arizona and there might be a riot brewing in that locker room, so I don't expect them to get much better anytime soon. After them, there's Philadelphia with 1-4-1, Giants 1-5, and Washington with 1-5 record as well.

Being still in the race for the division despite 1-4-1 start has to be motivating for the Eagles. They had a bunch of issues with injury in the first month of the season and once they get some of those players back, I expect them to get better. We saw glimpses of that last week when they were 2-pt conversion away from tying the score and pushing the game into overtime vs heavily favored Ravens.

Help on the way

But, those absences allowed some new faces to emerge and nobody did it like Travis Fulgham. With Jackson, Reagor, and Jeffrey on the sidelines, he was the go-to guy for Carson Wentz, even though it was expected from Ward, Hightower, and Arciega-Whiteside to become that. Over the last three games, he averaged 6 catches, 94 yards, and a touchdown per game. DeSean Jackson is expected to suit up tonight, but I am no worried about Fulgham stats here. Jackson being a deep threat might even help his production, because the Giants defense will have to respect D-Jax's speed, which will open some space for others to work underneath.

On the other side, the Giants finally broke 5 games losing streak. But their offense deserves very little credit for that. Daniel Jones went 12 from 19, for 112 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. But he is getting some help after Sterling Shephard got activated from the IR. OL is a big problem for the Giants and having a receiver that can get open quick for some easy short/intermediate throws will help this offense run smoother and find some rhythm.

Eagles vs Giants betting tips

I am leaning towards Philadelphia in this one, but I am not sure if I'm willing to lay 4.5 points with a 1-win team, that struggled quite a lot so far. Carson Wentz is not throwing the ball that well either, which is probably connected to what they got left at the OL. They were very excited about that unit going into the season with Dillard, Peters, Kelce, Brooks, and Lane Johnson. Potentially the best OL in the league. Now, only Kelce is left, while Lane Johnson is being bothered by injury and was in and out of the lineup since the beginning of the season. That is why pass protection was pretty bad so far and didn't allow Wentz to get comfortable in the pocket.

A player prop bet that I like here is Devonta Freeman under 54.5 rushing yards. He did bring some energy to their offense, since being signed couple of weeks ago, but this is a tough matchup for the Giants' running game. Their run blocking has been pretty bad so far and they are going against one of the toughest DLs in the league. Freeman was never really known for his vision and finding gaps. He is a tough runner that will grind few yards on top of what OL will give him (nothing in this situation).
