Denmark look well priced to beat Iceland when the teams lock horns at Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavik on Sunday.

Iceland did really well to pick up a 2-1 victory over Romania in a crucial European Championship qualifier on Thursday night. They now advance to the next round, where they will battle face Hungary on November 12.

Fatigue Could Affect Iceland

However, Iceland exerted a great deal of effort in that game. Romania had 61% of the possession, and the hosts had to really fight for their victory. That could leave Iceland fatigued as they prepare to take on Denmark in their national stadium.

The Danes are already assured of a place at the Euros. They were unbeaten in eight games, firing in 23 goals and conceding just six times. That saw them clinch automatic qualification, and they also shot up to 16th in the FIFA world rankings, 25 places ahead of Iceland.

Denmark should be a lot fresher for this game. They breezed to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Faroe Islands in a friendly on Wednesday night. Manager Kasper Hjulmand made a number of changes, so the players did not exert themselves, and they have had an extra day of rest.

A Strong Danish Team

The Danes proved just how strong they are at the back when they held England to a 0-0 draw in their last Nations League game. Premier League stars Kasper Schmeichel, Andreas Christensen and Jannick Vestergaard form a solid spine, while Christian Eriksen is a terrific playmaker.

Yussuf Poulsen and Thomas Delaney are quality midfielders, and Martin Braithwaite, Kasper Dolberg and Andreas Dolberg provide a substantial goal threat.

Iceland lost 5-1 to Belgium in their last Nations League game. They are typically strong at home, but Laugardalsvöllur will be virtually empty, so they could suffer due to a lack of atmosphere. It promises to be a tight game, but Denmark should edge it.
