San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles: Getting too much help

How can they stop the pass?

The 49ers took advantage of their schedule to bounce back after the opening defeat, despite missing their QB and their 1-2 punch at the running back position. Injury report doesn't look any better at the moment. "Au contraire". It's even worse. They will get George Kittle back,  which will be great for Nick Mullens. Kittle provides a sure pair of hands in key situations, where you need playmakers like him to move the chains on third downs.

But, they could be in trouble defensively. Richard Sherman was already out. Now they also lost Emmanuel Moseley and Ahkello Witherspoon. In the meantime, K'waun Williams is playing through a hip injury. They're down to 2nd and 3rd stringers at cornerback position. And when we mention that Dee Ford is joining his pass-rushing colleague Nick Bosa on IR, the conclusion is that San Francisco might have some issues patching up all these holes in their pass defense.

Carson Wentz close to bench

Fortunately for them ,Philadelphia has issues on their own. They are down to Greg Ward, Tim Hightower and Deontay Burnett in 3WR sets, with Alshon Jeffrey, Jaelen Raegor and Desean Jackson all out for this game. Injuries on the OL are constantly there anyway. They were so happy about that group coming in the season, but with Brandon Brooks, Andre Dillard and Jason Peters all going down, the line play is suffering.

And their problems are not only injury related. Only ruins have left from the offense that got them a Superbowl win a couple years ago. Carson Wentz's play is very concerning. He has thrown 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions already in this season. Some of his decision making was very poor and is one of the main reasons why they are winless in 2020.

49ers vs Eagles betting tips

It is a good bounce-back spot for him. The 49ers are an excellent team, but they are missing half of their team here. And it's the better half on top of that. If Eagles fail to manufacture some offense vs this secondary, they are in big trouble and are probably thinking about some drastic changes. Like benching Carson Wentz for example. Despite poor play so far, getting more than a touchdown seems a bit too much in this spot. The 49ers are missing many of their key players, including their starting QB.

Another bet that I like in this situation is Greg Ward over 45.5 receiving yards. With Dallas Goedert and DeSean Jackson going down in the first half last week, he was targeted 11 times! He had 8 catches for 72 yards and a score. I expect him to get a solid number of targets in this one as well and considering the issues in San Francisco's secondary, I think this receiving line is very beatable.
