Is third time the charm for Virtus Pro?
G2
G2 after the addition of Hunter and Nexa looked very inconsistent and I didn't give this roster 6+ months especially after losing to mousesports in a final for $61k when mousesports was using a coach and a standin I just didn't see this team lasting. However since the new year has started this team have looked like a different team for some unknown reason. Why they wasn't performing in the first place could of been a number of reasons ranging from new roles/positions for players or even the fact they call in English and especially for the core 3 of G2 this has never been a thing with them calling in French for their full careers.
Around a month ago G2 came 2nd at IEM Katowice and had alot of good wins there. They opened up Katowice beating 100 Thieves 2-0 dropping only 5 rounds in 2 maps which is just insanely impressive because they made it look like they was against an ESEA Advanced team not a team that's a top 10 team in the world. After that win they then had a rematch with mousesports and I had no hope for them in this game considering mousesports was now using their normal 5 and only 2 months prior to this they lost to mousesports with a coach and a standin however once again looked good and upset mousesports in a 2-1 victory. After this win they then managed to beat another 2 top 10 teams Liquid & Fnatic. So overall in this tournament they managed to beat 4 top 10 teams within just a few days of each other. After all this they did fall short in the final losing 3-0 to Natus Vincere, who after this tournament did jump to #1 in the team rankings. Overall a very impressive showing for this G2 team.
Virtus Pro
Once again Virtus Pro lose 2-0 on another day, I've already wrote 2 articles about this team in the past 2 days so feel free to check those out to read more on Virtus Pro but their problems are just continuing to grow.
Player morale in this team seem at an all time low. They've already mentioned wanting to split as a team if this team doesn't work out soon which it definitely doesn't seem like it will to me but the players are also now tweeting out that their not even enjoying the game anymore. Qikert tweeted last night 'i don't enjoy cs' this to me isn't a tweet you'd see from one of these top teams who are looking to become better. Maybe i'm over thinking a situation that in reality isn't much at all but it's the same in any job. People who enjoy their job perform better than the people who don't and are just there for their pay at the end of each month.
My Bet Reasoning
Once again I just think Virtus Pro are in too much of a slump and all deep down all know this team is never going to work which can't be great for any of them playing in knowing players are getting cut soon, motivation must just be extremely low within the team. As a top 3 team which G2 are they should be able to easily punish a team like Virtus Pro with the current situation they are in. Virtus Pro also don't have a punish pick against G2's map pool that they can exploit and any map Virtus Pro pick I still massively favour G2.
