Tonight there are seven games in the NHL. The New Jersey Devills will visit the Enterprise Center for a meeting with St. Louis Blues. Will St. Louis finally be able to book a comfortable victory again, or will New Jersey provide a surprising result?

St. Louis Blues: need to break out of their slump

The St Louis Blues want to prolong their Stanley Cup title this season. The hockey team made the most impression from mid-December, when they won frequently for four weeks, but in the meantime there has been a small dip. The Blues lost eight of their last ten games and saw their lead in the Central Division decrease rapidly. Meanwhile St. Louis shares the lead in this division with the Dallas Stars, the results will have to improve soon otherwise the Colorado Avalanche will catch up as well.

The lesser results may have to do with Jay Bouwmeester going into cardiac arrest last week during the game against the Anaheim Ducks. Understandably, this had a big impact on the team and staff of the Blues. Last week, St. Louis played back-to-back games against the Nashville Predators. Twice, the team, which is led by coach Craig Berube, came up short during very competitve games. David Perron leads the hockey team with 56 points (23 goals and 33 assists).

New Jersey Devils: Focus on next season

The New Jersey Devils don't have to be under any illusions this season. The hockey team is last in the Metro Division and the trailing the last wildcard ticket for the play-offs by seventeen points already. The trade deadline is coming in sight and it's clear that the Devils are sellers. For example, the experienced Andy Green was traded to the New York Islanders last weekend.

Expectations around P.K Subban were sky-high prior to the season. Not surprisingly, as the defender became New Jersey's top earner, but the hockey team's defense looks anything but solid this season. Only the Detroit Red Wings concede more goals per game on average this season. Last Sunday, New Jersey surprised with a 4-3 win via overtime against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Devils mainly owed the win to Mackenzie Blackwood, who played excellent with 52 saves.

St. Louis Blues - 1.5

New Jersey goalie Blackwood played impressive against Columbus, but for tonight's game against St. Louis it will be Domingue, who's in net. The backup goalie has a dramatic save percentage this season (0.878). Defender Greene's departure is another drain on the team and not conducive to short-term results. In addition, the hockey team misses an another important defender, with Sami Vatanen on the sidelines. St. Louis, as the current Stanley Cup winner, is certainly not a bad team, but the results are simply not going their way at the moment. The New Jersey Devils seem to be the ideal opponent to get out of their slump.
