Salford City - Oldham Athletic: High scoring Manchester derby

There's the EFL Cup semi-finals replay on Wednesday for sure, but there's also a Greater Manchester derby on Saturday. The Class of '92 Salford City host Oldham Athletic at Moor Lane and I do think that the market slightly underestimates the prospect of goals.

Salford City

The Ammies look set to finish mid-table in their first season ever in the English football league system.

Statistics

Salford create around the average number of shots and shots on target in League Two so far this season.

Salford have conceded on average 15.54 shots per game so far in League Two this season, which is the most shots conceded in the league (and quite a bit higher than the league average 12.55 shots per game). Salford have conceded on average 4.46 shots on target per game so far in League One this season; only 6 teams have conceded more shots on target in the league (also higher than the league average 3.98 shots on target per game).

Looking at the last 4 games, Salford have created on average 16.50 shots per game - one of the best attacking numbers in the league right now. In the last 4 games Salford have created on average 5.25 shots on target per game - also one of the best attacking numbers in the league right now.
In the same time span the Salford have conceded on average 15.75 shots per game - one of the worst defensive numbers in the league right now. In those very 4 games Salford have conceded on average 4.75 shots on target per game - above the league average 4.30 shots on target per game right now.

Oldham Athletic

The Latics are enduring an insipid season; probably quite safe from relegation but still a long long way from exiting League Two in a positive manner (or even finishing in top half).

Conclusion & Betting Tips

Both teams concede relatively high numbers of shots and shots on target. In recent weeks both teams have also added an improved attacking game, and I beleive we'll be seeing an open game with plenty of chances created both ways.
Also, the reverse fixture in December ended in an away win 1-4 for Salford and Oldham will most definately want to avenge themselves (after winning the shots count 21-10 and shots on target count 5-4).
My Betting Tip is Over 2.50 Goals.
Stake at 5/10 units.
