Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants: It's better be lucky then good Vol.2

Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants: It's better be lucky then good Vol.2

Still alive

An interesting choice for a MNF game. A 5-7 Philadelphia hosting their division rivals from Big Apple that are sitting at 2-10 right now. But we still have an interesting storyline in this one, with Eli Manning returning into the role of a starting QB after Daniel Jones suffered a high-ankle sprain and will be out several weeks. It' probably a slight downgrade for the Giants offense, considering how Eli looked on the field before he was eventually benched in week 3. There's not enough velocity on his ball to fit it into those tight windows, while his immobility is really killing him when facing a good pass-rushing unit.

On the other side, Eagles probably can't believe their luck. Although they are having a poor season, they could still win the division, because the Cowboys are keeping them alive week after week. Dallas was defeated in Chicago on Thursday, giving Philadelphia an opportunity to tie their record this week and put themselves in position to get on top in week 16, when they host the Cowboys at their Lincoln Financial Field. That should be one of the most exciting games of the week.

Something to fight for

But let's not get too ahead of ourselves and focus on the game in front of us. It' obvious that the result is more important to the Eagles here, but Giants will not be lacking motivation. A lot of people in that organization are playing for their jobs, trying to put a good film out there for the next free agency period. And there will be some opportunity for the depth guys to showcase their talents here with Evan Engram, Jabrill Peppers, Rhett Ellison and Corey Ballentine all sitting this one out. Eli is also very motivated to show that he has some football left in the tank.

Philadelphia is in a better situation with Nelson Agholor and Derek Bennett on the injury report, but with some possibility to suit up for this MNF matchup. Hopefully, they'll get a green light from the medical staff, because they need all the help that they can get to end this losing streak and bounce back after a very disappointing defeat in Miami last week

Eagles vs Giants best bet

We rarely see a 5-7 team being almost a double-digit favorite in the NFL. But it just shows how little the market thins of this Giants team and that they have no faith in Eli Manning whatsoever. But the question here is: Are those opinions too biased and caused the line to drift too far and create some value with the Giants? I believe that might be the case. Philadelphia is obviously not as good as some have expected them to be. Although the roster was not changed much compared to their Superbowl season, the RPO system is simply not giving the same results as back then.

Looking at the player props, few things caught my attention. I like Alshon Jeffrey for example. He is coming off a huge 9/137 game in Miami and the Giants corner play is abysmal since the beginning of the season. Janoris Jenkins is not playing anywhere near his Pro-Bowl season in the past and also he doesn't really have the size to deal with a big receiver like Jeffrey who is great at using his body and his reach to box out defenders on in-cutting routes or get those jump balls in the endzone. The line for Darius Slayton is tempting, considering how well he played this season, but be careful. His success was partially a product of the chemistry that he has with fellow rookie Daniel Jones. I'm not sure that he's on the same level with Manning.
