Dallas Cowboys vs Buffalo Bills: Chance to prove doubters wrong

Garrett's seat heating up

Alongside Detroit Lions, another team has a tradition of hosting the game on Thanksgiving Thursday. Their streak is not as long as the one that Lions have, but the Cowboys are playing the 2nd game on this day for almost 50 years now (with a couple of changes, when St Louis Cardinals took their place in the '70s). They are coming off a dissapointing effort in Foxborough, after which owner Jerry Jones critiqued the coaching staff in front of the media. It means that Jason Garrett is probably gone at the end of the season. Jones is alfa and omega in Arlington. Media and the fans were calling for Garrett's head for several years, but he was defending him. It seems that he finally ran out of patience as well.

Sitting at 6-5, they are still in a playoff hunt, but not in great position considering how stacked is the NFC. We actually don't even know how good they really are. They feasted on a cupcake schedule early in the season, but are yet to win against a team with a winning record.

Buffalo's weaknesses

Such a team is coming to town today. Buffalo Bills are 8-3 this season, but we could say that they also managed to inflate their record a bit with some wins over incompetent opposition. This will be a great chance for both teams to prove that they are for real. Buffalo defeated Denver last week and are currently in good position to snag one of the wildcards into the playoffs.

But there are some noticable flaws in their game, that they have to fix if they want to play with the big boys. One of those is the run defense. I don't think it got exposed just yet, because many of their opponents had to play from behind and couldn't really take full adevntage of it. Vs this Cowboys OL and Ezekiel Elliot, this could be a huge problem.

Cowboys vs Bills best bet

Looking at the traditional markets, I was leaning towards the over, but it drifted too far. I believe that both teams have the ability to move the ball against each other, using the running game to stay on schedule and then also throwing some bombs downfield. we have to be patient in this situation and wait for the better opportunity, when/if the line comes back down. Also, laying -6.5 seems like a lot for a team that haven't won against anybody relevant yet. But I'm bit afraid of the fact how good Dallas' passing game can look in the controlled environment, such as their dome. They were completely lost in bad weather last week, but I've seen Dak spread the ball among his receivers on home field, especially when he gets some help from the running game.

That is why I'm going with one of the best receivers in the game, who got downgraded by the market because of the two bad performances. Cooper got shut down last week by Stephon Gilmore (and the awful weather conditions), but his crisp route running on the faster turf proved to be a challenge for most of the NFL corners. I like Tre'Davius White because he is very talented. But he is right on the edge, where coaches will trust him to do the job on an island, but there are only a handful of corners that can pull it off against Cooper. I don't think he's one of them. Also, for the first time this season, Amari is not on the injury report.
