Tonight there'll be ten matches on the card in the NHL. The Buffalo Sabres will visit the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Both teams can exted their streak tonight, but for one it's a positive streak and for the other it's a negative one.

Lost five times in a row

That the New York Rangers didn't get off to a good start of the season, can safely be called an understatement. They're standing last place in the Metro Division and have an 2-1-4 record on the year. Star player Artemi Panarin signed with the Rangers over the summer, but he only got six points through the first seven games.

Coach David Quinn already told the media that he'll bump Panarin down on the second line, which means that Kaapo Kakko gets his chance on the top line. After losing four straight games in regulation the Rangers finally managed to get a point last Tuesday night at the Garden against the Arizona Coyotes. Tony DeAngelo saved his team from a worse result by scoring two goals.

Sabres on top in the Atlantic Division

The Buffalo Sabres are finding some success during the early season. They surprise everyone with an 8-1-1 record on the year. The only time they lost in regulation was against the Anaheim Ducks last week. Carter Hutton started his 2019-20 campaign red-hot. Buffalo won al six their matches with Hutton in net, who has a 1.65 goals-allowed-average, a .943 save percentage and shutout the Los Angeles Kings and the Dallas Stars.

The Sabres got off to a good start last season as well, but faltered a couple months later, which resulted in missing the playoffs. Head coach Ralph Krueger saw how his team won back-to-back matches against the San Jose Sharks most recently. Both matches were won 4-3, but Buffalo needed overtime last Tuesday night to get the win. They overcame a 2-0 deficit, Jack Eichel first narrowed the lead and later scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

Buffalo will extend their winning streak

The Rangers are on a winless streak of 5 games, so they're desperate to dig theirselves out of this hole. The Sabres have won 3 in a row and only lost 1 time in regulation. I'll keep riding the hot hand 'cause Buffalo can score in bunches and Hutton looks very solid in net during the early season, while Rangers' goalie Lundqvist is struggling.
