Basilashvili making up for Swiatek loss, beating teen sensation Brooksby

Unfortunately, the previews on here are not crowned with success so far. At least Nikoloz Basilashvili was able to turn his match around against Jenson Brooksby who was able to break through at these US Open. A big decision is to be made by him now as he will only get the $100.000 in prize money if he does not enroll at Baylor University in January and already turns pro instead.

On an eventful Day 4, doubles tournaments kicked off as well and today's preview will feature the mixed doubles match between Chinese-Brazilian combo Duan/ Demoliner and the Germans Siegemund/ Mies.

Siegemund a former US Open mixed champion

The two men already faced each other yesterday when French Open champions Krawietz/ Mies beat Demoliner/ Inglot 6-4 7-5.

While Ying-Ying Duan really improved in doubles, reaching the French Open final together with Saisai Zheng this year, she has now lost five straight doubles matches coming into the US Open. On the other side of the net will be German Laura Siegemund who made it to the second round in singles where she lost to #20 seed Sofia Kenin after being really competitive in set one. She also has great memories when it comes to mixed doubles in New York as she won her only Grand Slam here in 2016 together with Croat Mate Pavic.

No barriers between Siegemund and Mies

Both Duan/ Demoliner and Siegemund/ Mies are teaming up for the first time. All four players were in the mixed doubles competition in Wimbledon as well and Siegemund has been the only one that actually won a match. Together with Artem Sitak, she made it to the quarterfinals in London.

I neither see a statistical edge for Duan/ Demoliner nor do I think it's easier for them to get to know each other. Siegemund/ Mies should be the more harmonic pairing and they don't have a language barrier to overcome.

Working together as a team obviously is pretty important in doubles and with both playing together for the first time, I gladly take the all-German team here as the underdogs. They should make a great team with Siegemund's court coverage and diverse play and Mies' talent at the net.

All bets
